In an Oval Office interview with Hill.TV’s John Solomon and Buck Sexton, President Trump criticized the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court’s approval of a warrant that authorized surveillance of Carter Page, who was a low-level aide for Trump's campaign during the 2016 presidential election. He suggested that the FBI misled the court. His claim was related to his constant criticism of the FBI's handling of the Russia Collusion investigation, as well as their surveillance of his campaign.

“They know this is one of the great scandals in the history of our country because basically what they did is, they used Carter Page, who nobody even knew, who I feel very badly for, I think he’s been treated very badly. They used Carter Page as a foil in order to surveil a candidate for the presidency of the United States,” Trump said, regarding the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court’s approval of a warrant that authorized surveillance on his 2016 campaign.
