President Trump attended a rally to support Matt Rosendale, a candidate for the Montana Senate. Later in the speech, Trump exaggerated about how coal mining jobs had increased since his inauguration. As of August of that year, 53,100 coal miners were employed, which was a gain of 2,400 under Trump, but was still fewer than the year prior to his inauguration, and definitely a drop in the bucket in comparison to 89,700 employed in 2012.
