Trump's election victory has been compared to that of President Andrew Jackson's in 1828, by not only his supporters, but by Trump himself. In an interview with Sirius XM, Trump stated that if Andrew Jackson were president during the time of the Civil War, it wouldn't have happened. Even though Jackson died 16 before it began, Trump said that Jackson was "really angry" about what was happening in regard to the Civil War. By the time of Jackson's death, he had owned 150 slaves, as well as denounced the abolitionist movement that was moving to end slavery.

I mean, had Andrew Jackson been a little later you wouldn't have had the Civil War....he had a big heart. He was really angry that he saw what was happening with regard to the Civil War, he said 'There's no reason for this," Trump told Sirius XM.

Not only was Jackson a slave owner. He was very much a part of the forced removal of Native American tribes from the U.S. Southeast in the so-called Trail of Tears, and died 16 years before the start of the Civil War.
