About: Unemployment Rate
President Trump attended a rally to support Matt Rosendale, a candidate for the Montana Senate. Later in the speech, Trump claimed unemployment was at "historic lows," which was a misleading statement. The unemployment rate, at that time was 3.9 percent, which is low, but not "historic." For example, the unemployment rate was 2.5 percent in 1953. Also, it was below 3.9 percent for most of 1951,1952 and 1953. In 2000, the unemployment rate was as low as 3.8 percent.
