President Trump wrote an op-ed for USA Today, regarding a program promoted by Sen. Bernie Sanders to expand Medicare to all Americans, which was known as Medicare-for-All. Trump made a misleading claim that Democrats harmed seniors by "slashing" Medicare by $800 billion to pay for Obamacare. In actuality, most of that money was taken from providers, not beneficiaries, who as a result of such health care law, ended up with new benefits. Republicans and Trump's administration had pocketed almost all of the savings from their reductions in Medicare.
