Donald Trump insinuated that the media is at least partly responsible for the bombs that were sent to a number of his most well known political foes, including former President Obama and his 2016 rival Hillary Clinton. Trump initially attempted to tone down the rhetoric by saying political violence is an "attack on our democracy," but he quickly pivoted to the media and accused them of playing a role in the attempted terrorist attack.
Quote | Instead of focusing on the terrorist, Trump trained his ire on the media.
“As part of a larger national effort to bridge our divides and bring people together, the media also has a responsibility to set a civil tone and to stop the endless hostility and constant negative and oftentimes false attacks and stories. Have to do it.”
