Donald Trump appeared to blame the victims of a mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA by arguing that "maybe it could have been a very much different situation" if the synagogue had armed security, despite mountains of evidence to the contrary. Trump made the statement in response to a question about whether or not he will support new gun laws aimed at stemming the seemingly endless mass shootings in the United States.
Quote | Multiple worshipers died when a gunman attacked their synagogue.
"Well, again, this [mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA] has little to do with it if you take a look. If they had protection inside the results would have been far better. This is a dispute that will always exist I suspect. If they had some kind of protection inside the temple, maybe it could have been a very much different situation. They didn’t. And he was able to do things that unfortunately he shouldn’t have been able to do."
