Donald Trump criticized his predecessors for not celebrating the centennial of women's suffrage, appearing to genuinely not understand the definition of "centennial." Trump bragged that "they've been working on this for years and years" even though, by definition, the centennial anniversary of something only happens once. The anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution is August 18, 1920, so no one really knows what Donald meant.
Quote | The President genuinely didn't seem to understand the definition of centennial.
"So—and they have. They’ve been working on this for years and years. And I’m curious, why wasn’t it done a long time ago? … Well, I guess the answer to that is because now I’m president, and we get things done. We get a lot of things done that nobody else got done. "
